Department of Psychology
Message from the Dean
The Department of Psychology has a distinguished 25-year tradition of excellence in both teaching and research. And it has played a central role in shaping the profession of psychology in Kosovo. With a curriculum that aligns closely with European academic standards, the department has significantly contributed to advancing research quality, engaging in international collaborations, and partnering with various institutions and communities across the country. By addressing numerous societal challenges, the Department of Psychology has emerged as one of the most esteemed academic units, not only within the University of Prishtina but also in the broader academic landscape.
The Department offers two study programs. The BA program equips students with a solid foundation in psychology, fostering both theoretical knowledge and essential soft skills to enhance their academic and professional profiles. The MA program in School and Counseling Psychology prepares future psychologists to navigate complex educational environments, equipping them with the necessary expertise to understand intricate social dynamics, contextual challenges, and problem-solving strategies. Notably, the department attracts the highest number of applications within the Faculty of Philosophy, making it the top choice not only among psychology programs in Kosovo but also across various academic disciplines.
The Faculty of Philosophy will continue to support the department in strengthening collaborations with diverse societal stakeholders and international partners while fostering greater student involvement in research, community engagement, and social initiatives.
I am confident that the Department of Psychology will continue to serve as a model of academic excellence, organization, and responsibility for years to come.
Prof. Dr. Bekim Baliqi,
